Sunny California

September 15, 2008

Well, we made the big move and are finally settling in and all out of boxes. I know it has been forever since I last posted and you probably thought I must have dropped off the face of the earth...but alas you haven't been that lucky. ha. I really was surprised by how much time and effort went into getting ready for "the big move". I should know that moving and putting things in boxes ALWAYS takes longer than you think it will.

As for us making it to Sunny California...well, things have taken a little getting used to, but I am starting to feel a little more settled. It's not like I want to live in my parents basement forever, but things are just so unfamiliar here.

It's hard when you know somewhere so well and know so many people and then move to somewhere where you have no one and don't even know where the Wal-mart is (which I finally found....it was decided that I will never go back there again. I was the only white person there. I think I was not in the best part of town. oops. Lots to learn). :)

I know Utah forwards and backwards, I know where the Targets and Wal-marts are I know where the things are in grocery stores and I can find the little things I need without much effort. I know the freeways and I know the backroads...but I don't know anything here.

To give LA some credit....It really is a great place. I love how close we are to the beach and I love how once I do find something it is almost always less than 10 minutes away. Its a great city, it just takes getting familiar with the surroundings and finding which roads lead me where. I was extremely excited to find a Costco and it is brand new only 10 minutes away...the little joys in life right?!

My husband, doesn't start school for another week so it has been nice to have him around while I am trying to find everything and get the hang of this town. I will admit that I do dread him starting school because that means days will be a little longer and I will have less to do, but hopefully I will make friends quickly and find people to do things with.

Well, I'm here and I will be blogging regularly again. Sorry for the keeping you all anxiously awaiting a future blog post for so long now. ha. :)

Sorry.

You are going to have to give me a little slack as I promise I have not just left this blog for better things, but rather have been without any internet the last week (can I tell you how lost I have felt? The only good thing was to come back to such a full email box. It was like Christmas. I love reading what you guys have to say and getting questions, so don't stop). Today is the first day that I have had any signal/connection and it only has two little bars and looks like it could go out at any second.

But during this little break, just know that I have come up with some VERY fun things to blog about! I have tons to tell you about and have also had people email me with loads of questions. You can believe I will be right on this.

Life is a little busy at the moment...selling our TV (yea!), making a birthday cake for my sister, leaving for a camping trip, wondering when life is going to slow down, getting a potential loan (keep crossing your fingers...there might be something on the horizon), trying to keep a two year old happy and occupied, and all while making skirts for all the girls around here, but I will keep you posted and I promise I will have new updates soon!

So put up with my little absence from blogging just a little longer and I promise to have some fun things in store!

Thanks,
Michelle

Hello World This Is Me

June 05, 2008

Does anyone remember that song? It is an oldish song that has been stuck in my head the past few days. There is something about blogging that makes me want to sing that song. Probably something to do with the fact, that when you blog you are putting a piece of yourself out there for anyone that might come across it, family, friends, strangers, blog stalkers (ha. we've all been there) to judge or to have an inside look at who you really are. It's an exciting yet strange feeling to know that someone (and you might not even know that person) is reading your thoughts or seeing pictures of your activities.

Well, today I am opening this blog up to your readers (all four of you...). :) I am willing to answer just about anything about myself, my family, and of course my company (Epicurean Style). So ask a way and I'll post the answers in the next few days. In the mean time here are fifteen things that you my not know about me....

1.When I was little and I would go to the store with my mom, she would tell me, that if I was good she would take me to a fabric store after and I could buy a piece of ribbon.

2. I can drive a stick shift. My first car was a 1974 Yellow VW Bug (loved it and the awesome gasoline smell it left and me and everyone that rode in it. ha.).

3. I took voice lessons in high school and I sang in choir from 7th-12th grade.

4. Cold Stone was my first "real" job.

5. I am a MAJOR perfectionist

6. I just found out that swings and I have a love/hate relationship. I used to love them as a kid, but recently I tried them out again. I had SOOOOO much fun going high, but after I was done, I was SOOOOO sick to my stomach and dizzy (I swear I am not that old).

7. I have a section, in my naturally curly hair, that went straight while I was nursing my son (about 3-4 inches. weird.).

8. I am addicted to online shopping and googling to find Free Shipping.

9. I love a fresh hair cut and color.

10. I hate/get sick when someone touches the inside of my arm, and area I refer to as my "elbow pit".

11. I was in gymnastics for 8 years, loved everything about it, except for beam...never did learn how to do a cartwheel on it.

12. I've super glued my fingers together (dumb me.)

13. I have a really bad habit of bitting my nails. I've only stopped the habit once, right before I got married, so I would have pretty nails when I showed people my ring, but it only lasted a few months.

14. I love the warm summer weather, but I love winter clothes.

15. In fifth grade I did more pull-ups than all of the kids (boys and girls) in my class, and won an award for it.
